Melissa & John { Wedding }

Melissa & John tied the knot last Saturday, Aug 20th, in beautiful Parksville, BC. The afternoon wedding was short and sweet and filled with lot's of love, friends and family.We arrived in Parksville at 9am after driving up from Victoria, BC.  I got to go meet the boys before the wedding while they were getting ready, and had the chance to see the hilarious sense of humour John and his friends have. John, a seemingly quiet guy, turned out to be full of surprises.

After making it to the Bayside Inn, Parksville, where the ceremony was held, the boys shared some pre-vow champagne in the parking lot and had some bonding time in the hotel room (see below). Both the groomsmen and bridesmaids looked clean and polished and the day went on without a glitch. The reception was held at the Qualicum Community Hall, and was beautifully decorated with a unique guestbook where the guests filled out mini cards and hung them on some arranged branches (great idea!), and I loved the seating arrangement display...the names of the guests were written on a window mirror with each table having its own checker in the frame. The 2 MC's of the night kept the night filled with laughter with their mini skits and comedy routines and after just short of 12 hours of shooting, the night ended and I headed home....exhausted! Here are a few shots of the day:

Point Ellice House Heritage Celebration

This past Sunday, August 21st 2011, was the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Point Ellice House in Victoria, BC. This landmark event was filled with entertainment and beautiful costume from the 1900's, as well as fabulous treats and teas. The event ran from 11am until 4pm and included musical serenades by the composite band "All in Good Time", a entertaining performance by the very energetic Morris Dancers, a Waltz dance demonstration followed by a Salsa lesson from Roman and Renee Yue, and closed off with a performance by the Victoria Summer Choir. The event drew hundreds of people throughout the day including families, who enjoyed the face painting and birthday card decorating. I was fortunate enough to be asked to be the official photographer of the event, and had a wonderful day capturing the fun and vintage atmosphere. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day, more can be found on the Point Ellice House Website and Facebook page. http://www.pointellicehouse.ca/
